This is an Italian "Fonoscope" postcard-record an old friend sent me. She wrote, "...now, in the light of my kitchen, I'm shocked to realize that it is actually a girl in native dress eating Twinkies. Eek!"

I was record shopping in Berlin, and bopped through a flea market on the way. I couldn't pass up this '45 of Rex Gildo singing "Fiesta Mexicana" (in German, of course)...

And then there's this more modern record by Sacramento-based producer Rick Riffle (myspace.com/lodru) It's not wacky-weird, it's good-weird. Imagine a slamming super-scientific drum 'n' bass track but using all these Buddhist monk samples. Wait, don't just imagine it, listen to it here.
