In redesigning www.jimrabby.com, the client wanted a very clean and minimal website to showcase the prolific amount of work produced by the artist. (At the time of launch, over 400 paintings were included.)

One of my goals was to make sure that the client could edit the website with a minimum of fuss and training. One of the things I love about WordPress is that it’s possible to customize the administrative interface to make editing a completely intuitive process. The interface clearly shows “paintings”, and provides custom fields that are relevant to the task: canvas size, price, etc.

With this customized WordPress backend, adding new paintings is as easy as uploading a single high resolution image and specifying the title, price, dimensions and category. From this, everything is automatically generated – from the thumbnail views to the mobile-responsive layouts.

To help market the paintings, I integrated the website with my favorite email service provider, MailChimp. Visitors are invited to sign up for the mailing list, and once added, receive automatically generated monthly emails that showcase paintings that have been recently added to the website.
