For Original Thinking, I wanted to build a website that would reflect some of the philosophy behind the book it promoted. Glenn Aparicio Parry’s book “Original Thinking: A Radical Revisioning of Time, Humanity, and Nature” speaks about our relationship with time and the lands we inhabit. The intent of the site was to invite the visitor into a uniquely primitive space that could be experienced almost like a window into nature.
The home page uses a scrolling technique to create a graphically rich “splash page” without actually harming how the page performs in search engine results.
Subtle multimedia refinements add to the experience: on the home page, sounds from nature and a gentle (not overly distracting) soundtrack ground the experience. The moon you see in the design reflects the actual state of the moon right now. The site itself moves through time.
